A Revolutionary War Exhibit

on Display at the Gaffney Visitors Center and Art Gallery

Every Person,

      Every Place,

            Every Thing

            Has a Story.

It Took Us All is an engaging exhibit that brings to life the diverse roles played by women, children, enslaved and free Blacks, Loyalists, and Patriots during America’s War for Independence. Through personal accounts and narratives, visitors are immersed in the historical evennts that morphed present-day Cherokee County, South Carolina, into battlegrounds during the American Revolution.

The exhibit showcases near floor-to-ceiling panels with historical art interpretations by Fred Bowen, a local artist and descendant of Revolutionary War Veterans.

The Ancestry Wall features an audio experience, allowing guests to hear stories shared by ancestors and local members of the Daniel Morgan Chapter, NSDAR, Daughters of the American Revolution. These individual accounts offer unique insights into the pivotal actions taken during the Revolution.

A giant map of present-day Cherokee County spreads across the exhibit’s floor, displaying the sites of different skirmishes, conflicts, and battles throughout these lands. Guests can use our headsets to become immersed in an Augmented Reality Experience that brings the map to life around them.
